MF 35 Diesel Deluxe Clutch Springs question

About 6 years ago I replaced the clutch during a rebuild. After getting everything back together I discovered the clutch was sorta hard press. I was new to the whole thing, but I believe I replaced it with a 12 spring clutch. Its ok, but when your on the clutch with stop and go it can wear you down. I had read where someone else had this same problem and through the access panel they removed a spring(s) from each section getting it down to 6. Anyone else heard of this? I have plans to replace the clutch with a 6 spring, but if I can avoid splitting the tractor it would be preferred.

Thanks

Dang. I just found it.

I took a torch through the adjustment hole and heated and weakened one of the springs in each group of 4 making it so I could pry it out. Tried it with 9 springs and it was still too tough. Removed another one in each group til I only had 6 springs total; 2 in each group evenly spaced around the pressure plate.

Curious on any comments on this.

Thanks
