MF 135 Perkins 3 cyl diesel

My MF 135 3cylinder Perkins diesel, with multi power, developed water in the engine oil. I thought I d post the progress of discovery. Picture 1 is the clean down, picture 2 is the head off, showing the problem. Water pump bearing may have been worn in the past, and, or steel backing plate not installed. Abrasion and hydrolysis, has created a hole in the timing cover, dumped the water, heated the engine and blown the head gasket into the cam shaft side. Thanks for all your suggestions.

The reason I asked as per was the engine coolant, WATER only, or 50% Glycol based antifreeze and 50% water mix.?

I own a 1963 MF 35 X 3-cylinder diesel Perkins engine...hours are 7000 +.

Always ran 50% Glycol 50% water mix ...never any porosity or signs of cavitation.

Does your Engine have a history of Water only for engine cooling?
Bob..

For the past 5 years has been running water and glycol 50%. Prior to that I suspect water only, and it had been sitting for many years before I acquired it. Curiously, the water pump bearing was loose and it was replaced, five years ago, but there was no backing plate installed with it.

Just an update on progress. Engine head cleaned of large amount of sludge, then reconditioned. Liners and pistons seem ok. Timing case cover repaired. Head repositioned, new injectors.
Started with great difficulty, masses of white smoke, running very rough, fuel seeping from exhaust!! Reinstalled the old injectors, running perfectly.
It seems the new injectors were 15mm longer than the originals and one was rattling when removed, obviously defective and over fueling. any thoughts on the new injectors as to what s wrong with them?

(quoted from post at 02:05:27 09/30/22) Wrong injectors possibly/maybe, what is the serial number of the engine (stamped on the block above the injector pump).
Thanks pt, serial no. F49795. Engine no. 2387237, any thoughts are appreciated. The original injectors were stamped "made in England", new ones were not..

Can't find anything with those numbers, the engine serial number should be something like 152UA220812E. It could be stamped somewhere else on the block.
