MF 40B Backhoe cylinder parts

So I got my hydraulic cylinder apart and went to the dealer.
They cannot get the parts anymore and sent me to the place they send their cylinders to.
They could not help either so I guess I need some NOS, part numbers are 1606796M1 or 1097015M1
I need 2 of them, one of each number or two of one number. THANKS

MF 40B is the model of the tractor, the backhoe has its own model number, as does the loader if it has one. In the on line parts books I can find the wear ring 1606796M1 in the some of the 54 series backhoe dipper and bucket cylinders. I found the 1097015 wear ring in a 54B series dipper cylinder. So it is a guess that wear rings for one of the 54, 222, or 232 series backhoes are what you are looking for.

Baum Hydraulics website shows a kit equal to the MF1607725M91 kit called out for many of those cylinders. It includes a wear ring in it (4" x 1/8" x 3/8"). You could call them, I expect they will sell just the wear rings, if that is all you need.

Correct,54A backhoe on a 40B. I will contact them, they did not come up in any of the searches I did.
The funny thing is that the part numbers came up for komatsu's
Thank you

Looking at that part number, it is the wrong kit.
mine has a 2.5 inch bore and the book shows 1 607 677 M91

(quoted from post at 21:24:41 12/28/20) what did you search on their website to find these part numbers?

I found the names of the parts in the AGCO on line parts books by searching the numbers you posted in several backhoe parts books. Then I found the kit number there that included the wear rings. I checked Baum's Seal Kits for Farm Equipment and found the MF kit number there. Then I found their breakdown of what is in their kit. Baum did not show a part number for the wear rings, just a description.

It's funny, I searched about every number and it did not show up.
Finally using the kit number without the M1 it popped up.
THANK YOU I will be talking to them first thing in the morning, for that price I will get the whole kit.

2.5" bore? I missed this post last night, so yes, the kit I found at Baum is the wrong one with this new info. That comes from only having part of the story and making guesses. Based on just the wear ring numbers you gave, I was looking a 4" bore dipper cylinder with a 2" rod. The answers can only be as good as supplied info. You didn't provide the backhoe model, which cylinder you were working on, and the basic dimensions (bore and rod diameter). You are looking for 4" wear rings by the part numbers you gave for those. They won't fit in a 2.5" bore cylinder. I have to believe 2.5" is your rod diameter, not the bore. Kit 1607677M91 (part number you say you need) comes up under "BUCKET CYLINDER (4 X 39-1/2" D.A.) (USED WITH LONG DIPPER)". Is that the one you are working on?

Baum has a kit for that part number as well and it is for a 2.5" rod. Search on their site homepage with the MF kit part number and you should get their kit #G06980. Then if you click on their number it will give you a list of what is in their kit. A phone call to them may be time well spent.

HI, Yes I found the G06980, it is the only kit I found on there website. You never gave me the Baum part number you found.
I have talked to them and the kit is on its way to me.
Thank You very much, with out your information I would not have found it.
Since I had the part numbers I was looking for I figured that was all I needed to post. I am not surprised that they would use the same part in different cylinders. The piston in both cylinders probably have the same outer size.
I figured I would find the individual parts and surprised to find them in any kit. I would buy what ever I needed to get the 2 parts I need.
The great thing about Massey Ferguson is that they stamp the part number on the exterior of the cylinder. It takes any guess work out of which cylinder it is.
Thank you

Glad to hear you got what you need coming to you.

People on a forum can't see what you have, the more info you can provide the better. If you are searching for such in the future and you have something like a complete cylinder number, please post it. That info and the right model number would have saved a bunch of searching in the AGCO parts catalogs and guessing on which cylinder you were working on.

My experience has been you will find complete kits in the aftermarket rather the individual pieces by part number. Dealers may have the pieces by part number, but hydraulic shops usually measure and match those up because many different brands of equipment might the same component (each with their own part number). I entered the MF kit part number in the search box on the Baum home page and their kit number came right up. Then clicking on their number brought up the list of the kit contents. I believe they will sell parts/pieces as well if one doesn't want a complete kit. They have many kits for Masseys. Check out their catalog "Seal Kits for Farm Equipment". The MF kits for loaders and backhoes like yours are in that catalog, not the catalog for construction equipment, likely due to MF disappearing from the construction scene.

gjinc,

I'm exactly where you were a couple years ago with my 40B/54A (long dipper, bucket cylinder). Just wondering how the Baum seal kit worked out for you? They are short on some of the parts now, so I've been waiting. I also noticed they had an additional 3-1/4" o-ring in there list that wasn't on the AGCO parts list. Did you find you had any left over? Thanks.
