So I have a mf65 gas with multipower, (love it). When engaged in high as the manual suggests the tractor should normally be set at. It seems to drag the engine down a little. Not really a lot but you can hear the engine sound labor just a bit. Is this normal. In low MP all seems normal. It seems the little MP aux. pump is using a bit of hp? Thoughts? Thanks.

To an inexperienced ear the governor coming in can be mistaken for dragging
down or laboring. How much the engine labors in any gear under a given load
hinges on governor. Governor is worn on many tractors this age and never been
replaced and/or adjusted. If governor is working experience lets operator know if
a higher gear can be used or if a lower gear is needed. One way i might explain
it is if in right gear for the load, lightly applying brake on moving tractor
should result in increased throttle. Since the manual has no way of knowing what
tractor will normally be used for there's no way it can suggest lo or hi as
normal.
