Hydraulic working properly?

I have a 35x that I am not sure if the hydraulic is working properly. It has a double valve under the seat which has a quick coupler and a fel was once attached to the other valve. I got myself a sickle mower. A more modern one with hydraulic lifting of the bar.
The lift arms works like they should. They can be positioned where you want them. I thought that was the case with the bar too. But it can only go all the way up or down. The quadrant just controls the speed. So not at all like the lift arm do. So if a fel was attached it would do the same which they isnt right. So is the hydraulic broken?

The way my 65 is set up, I have a selector valve that when set for remote circuit, feeds pressure to a double acting cylinder control valve, which drains back to
the sump through a port in the side of the transmission. I would imagine the 35X would need a similar system to use a FEL or a remote cylinder.

The rusted cylinders from the fel was on it and attached to the valve when I got the tractor. So the former owner most have used it like this and been ok with it just going fully up and down I guess?

I got to thinking about it some more, and if the position control works for the 3 point, it should work on a remote cylinder through that diverter valve. I know the earlier Fergusons needed some extra parts added on to work like that because they didn't have position control but the 35X shouldn't need that. Do you have the draft control levers all the way up to the top of the quadrant?

(quoted from post at 07:09:00 07/31/22) you got me, then. The only solution I see is to install a position control valve between the selector valve and the remote cylinder.

Yes ok. See if I can find one that fits the 35.

It's an unusual looking diverter valve
but still should work. The hydraulics on
your tractor sounds to be OK. There's 2
ports on that diverter valve with only
one in use and you mover the diverter
lever to which ever port you need.
Im assuming you've done that?
When you divert you then raise the
position and depending on some tractors
you may need more engine speed for a
greater flow of oil. It won't do much on
idle you need to open the throttle up.

Does your sickle bar require 2 ports to
work the ram on it? A feed and return? If
that's the case you need plum in a return
on the tractor?
