Zenith Throttle Shaft Packing

I rebuilt the zenith carb on my 55 last night. I put in a new felt throttle shaft seal. I installed it dry, as the manual does not mention any oil or grease. How do you guys typically install the felt? It is fully assembled and on tractor however I have not run it yet and if it should be oiled I figure I will just add some drops of oil to it with it on the tractor and it should wick through the seal?

Leave it dry, oil will hold dust/dirt you don't want around the shaft.

Thanks for the reply, I ended oiling it last night haha. Through my research I read that its main purpose is to filter dust and that it does a good job dry it will do an even better job oiled. Im sure it wont hurt anything being oiled now but probably would have been just fine without haha
