I am looking at a MF 40. It's similar to the MF 40 industrial tractor I have. But this one was used by the navy. (Has a navy data plate) The transmission in it is a torque converter setup instead of clutch. There is no rear PTO shaft and no select lever on the left side. There is a hyd control station like mine for the 3pt lift bars. And under the seat there's a shaft there with the splines for the arms. But all the 3pt linkage isn't there. And there are pipes/caps to cover the splines. The shaft can be spun by hand and I can hear it clank at the ends of it's travel, but I'm guessing it's not connected to the cylinder. I know I could pull the plate off the top where the standpipe comes through to see if it's there and connected to the pump. But does anyone know if these transmission even have a provision for a hydraulic pump where the PTO shaft would be? And could a PTO output shaft even be installed with a selector cover to add PTO to one?
I found a site that had a little discussion about these navy tractors. But there doesn't seem to be a lot of info out there on them. Mainly trying to see if it could be made useful by adding/getting the 3pt lift working and adding PTO.
