Massey 135 issue after cav pump reseal

I resealed the cav pump on my 135. Followed the YT videos by bundy bear. I feel I did everything
correctly, timing the pump etc. After the pump was reinstalled it was extremely difficult to start. I kept
bleeding thinking air was the issue. After some time it would start but barely go above idle. I thought maybe
I had installed the spring under then top cover in the wrong hole and checked it. It was done correctly.
Again very difficult to start. I sprayed a little starting fluid and it finally perked up above idle and ran fine. I
thought it was good. After idled down it will not go above idle without a shot of starting fluid. Once it goes
above idle it runs great and you can move the throttle up and down and it is responsive until you idle it
down. Any ideas? Idk what I am missing.

Did you rebuild it or just reseal it? Did you do it in a clean room so no dirt got in it?

If never rebuilt you probably have other parts inside the pump that need replaced.

I'm sure Dieseltech will comment, but I have seen him say he no longer does reseals only rebuilds. Some of these pumps are almost 60 years old.

Do you have the spring and check ball/plate at the filter on the fuel inlet in the right order? That caused us some starting headache. Junior was quick on the disassembly and didn't pay close enough attention. Once in the right order all was fine. Don't remember the details now. Pretty sure Bundy Bears shed mentions to pay attention to that.

Thanks for the reply. I am going to check that and the governor plate assembly. I believe it is one of those causing the issue.

Thanks for the reply. I was very clean doing the reseal. The tractor ran perfect prior minus being leaky.
