Just want to pass along that if you have a MF231 tractor and buy a replacement alternator known as the Marelli type that is supposed to be a direct replacement for your original alternator be advised that you will have to modify it to fit. The case is longer and the back side of this alternator will be wedged up tight against your power steering reservoir which could probably wear a hole in it very soon. I took a grinder to the replacement alternator and removed some of the rear casing so as to have a gap between it and power steering tank. Not even noticeable once mounted on the tractor.
