Howdy folks I just rebuilt my z129 engine and was happy this morning when it fired right up after setting the valves and such

The issue is that it revs immediately to the moon and I disengage the key right away because I havent the balls to find out if its going to stop,
Ground crank new pistons oil pressure good valve lash looks good new cam new crank bearings head checked and valves done at a shop

The carburetor is a rebuilt tsx361 that I bought from a guy as a rebuilt unit and is in obviously better condition than I can do on a carburetor the manifold and intake gasket is new

Anyone ever had this problem

Check the governor adjustments.

I have a TO35 I bought that would race away, disconnected from the throttle. One time only pulling the plug wires could shut it down. Problem was the governor ball cage was broken. Temporary control, so I could move the tractor, was I ran a wire to hold the governor lever from opening the carburetor. Be very careful removing the governor cover as there are a couple of dowel pins that corrode and when they don't release while prying the cover you can break the cover off. There are a couple of youtube videos on governor repair.

Also check the cork bushing on the throttle linkage under the dash and the pressure spring for that as when they are worn the tractor increases throttle position from idle.

I just put this engine back together with a new camshaft and the old governor I will work through the linkages but I torqued the cam but to 45ft lbs and the balls were all free and I put the governor tapered cover with the tab in the 8 oclock position the way the manual states

I think the carburetor is set wrong but if experience tells folks the governor is causing this Ill look into it more

Thank you for your response, I pulled this TO30 from the weeds half buried in a tree line on a neighbors property three years ago
Just now getting it back together

One thing to mention the new governors come with a shim for between ball cage and the timing gear where this guy did not have that I may order one to put it in while I am here but I think something else is going on
