Davis 185 for MF202 / parts

My Davis 185 backhoe had repairs done that are horrible. I am looking for a mast weld assembly. That is the main center section that the seat and controls mount to, as well as the pivot point for the boom and boom cylinder. Will also consider an entire 185 if I can find one. With machinist shop rates in my area of $125 per hour, estimates range between $1800 and $2200 to repair the mast. Any ideas on where to look?
Thanks Don[/list]

My 185 was very loose when I got it. Although loose doesn't describe it accurately. It looked like the business end was going to fall out of the frame. I called a local machine shop and they restored to probably better than new condition. They replaced 2 bearings and the rest was building up the metal to hold the bearings. It was 1997, but it only cost me $633. That included the 2 bearings which were $130. I don't know if it will help, but here is a picture of the bearings they used.

Thank you, that will save some time when I get to that point. Something catastrophic happened in the past. Machinists that look at it thought it must of rolled. The two pair of ears that support the boom and the boom cylinder along with other sections of the mast had a lot of welding done. The work was not done properly and the ears are both on a slight angle and do not lineup over each other. This caused the pins to be forced through the bushings and then welded in and the cylinder to be forced into the boom on an angle which caused everything to wear badly.
What Im going to try to do is cut the cylinder portion of the mast between the lower and upper ears, rotate it about 15 to line up the upper ears over the lower ears. Once that is accomplished then each ear is going to have to be heated until it can be slightly rotated to a proper angle for new pins and bushings to be installed properly. Once that is completed, the remaining bushings need to be removed and new ones with new pins installed. There are a couple repairs required on the boom and the dipper to have the pins install properly. I need to replace the bucket, dipper and boom cylinders and hopefully be able to rebuild the stabilizers. Finally I need to reseal the hydraulic control, and install new the bearings you did, after repairing the two mounting holes which are now egg shaped because the bolts were loose.
Having just typed out what it is I need to do, it is more clear why it is the project I have dreaded since buying the tractor.

I was fortunate because when I bought the tractor at auction it had the loader and backhoe and the backhoe was in bad shape so it didnt really add to the price. So basically the backhoe cost me the price of the repair.

Good luck with your repair - it sounds like a challenge!
