I replaced the ignition switch because a prong was broken. Still no start. I went through all the wiring a no broken wires or corroded terminals. How do you remove the neutral safety switch? It has two bullet connections on it but I do not know how to remove them. I believe thats the problem because when i turn the key nothing happens... not even a click. Any help is great. Thanks.

Just pull the wires with bullet ends out of Nuetral switch and connect the two wires together. This will bypass N switch.

i may be mistaken but one of the 2 fuses on the dash is for the ign switch they will corrode after years of use.

I did replace the fuses but that did not work. I had a gut feeling like it was not connecting correctly... so do I pull the whole fuse grommet out and replace it?

Thank you.. I tried to pull on them but I didnt want to break anything. Ill let you know if works to bypass the switch.

I have a 255 that had problems starting. Turned out that fuse holder in the dash was corroded and not getting good contact. Once I replaced it the tractor started fine again.

When one of my Massey's won't start I check the battery and connections especially the Ground then go to the starter. Make SURE it's not in gear! You don't need a key OR a safety switch to start a Massey diesel, you need a chrome shaft screwdriver to jump across the big terminal and the other, small terminal on the solenoid. IF it doesn't crank THEN I check that the starter is not locked up/hung. The safety switch, some have VERY small clips that my fat fingers have trouble pulling loose so I use needle nose pliers THEN the wires will come out and short together, then try the key switch. IF it does crank with the screwdriver then I know either the safety switch/wiring is bad OR the ignition switch is bad, or both and go from there. IF all you get is a "click" the it's probably time to pull the cap off of the solenoid, rotate the battery stud 180 degrees and re-install or get a new solenoid. NO, it's not by the book but I always get it started;-)
