As you may see I'm one lug nut short, previous owner was quite the "fixer" I guess he torched off the head for some reason. That little piece left on the lug bolt just unscrewed with my fingers once I put a pair of vice grips on back to keep it from spinning. Anyway I just got new rims and tires and painting the hub along with weights so I want it to look good but missing a lug is like a black eye.

Also this end of the axle, should I check fluid in this or something? Looks like there is a plug on side, gear oil?

Thanks mike

Those LONG nuts you have are for the thick cast center wheels. If you are changing to thinner steel wheels I'd get all sixteen wheel nuts and not use what you have as
they won't make good contact on steel dish wheel centers. The planetary gear oil should be checked to at the filler/level plug. Use the same oil as the tractor rear end
oil.

'm still using the thick cast centers, I just got new loop rims and tires. So where can I get one of these long lug nuts? I did some quick online searching and found nothing like these. So I'm hoping I can still get one.

And my planetary gear housing had alot of greasy crud around it. I had to scrap it with a paint scraper and scrub it with dawn dish soap and a scrub brush to get it as clean as you see it. Are there seals between these plates that could be leaking a bit? And if so at what point should you actually split it and re-seal? Like if I go out tomorrow and that whole bottom is soaked with lube after being washed clean, is that the point it need attention? I'm just wondering if I should do anything now while it's open cuz this wheel removal was quite the job lol. My back is aching and I'm only on the first side. And definatly not looking forward to removing them again anytime soon.

Thanks mike

found one, I found the part number 897 758 m1 after digging around for my parts book. Anyway dealers dont have them but sent me to a bone yard they get stuff from and they had what I was looking for. 10 bucks. If anyone ever runs into this hunting expedition call you dealer and ask if they have a bone yard they get stuff from and give them a call for the older stuff anyway. Glad I was able to get one.
