Hi, just the other day I posted about rope seals on a 35x but I couldnt confirm the engine :oops: :roll: We now know its a Standard Motor Company 4 cyl FE35, 1957

Can anyone help my father in law progress his issue with accessing the shaft seal? I understand the seal on this model is a lip seal rather than rope seal

He has split the engine from the box but is now stuck

many thanks
Ben

I'm sticking my neck out here, I have not worked on one of these. Looking at a parts book, it looks like there was a cover bolted on, in the area of the arrow, that the seal is in. If nothing else this may get someone to say I'm wrong, and give you the right answer.

As for your serial number.
S = Standard Chassis
D = Diesel
M = Dual Clutch
82598 = unit number (According to TractorData 1958 serial numbers started with 79553, 1959 started with 125068 so yours would be a 1958. The FE35 became the MF35 in the 1957-58 time range I believe.)

Jim ME thank you, you were right. He had removed it already! :shock: :?

Thank you for your help. Happy tractoring...might get into these myself after driving his David Brown back last year :D
