MF 35X Access to shaft rope seals??

Blender

New User
Hi, I'm posting here asking for some help from you guys and gals for my father in law

He has split the engine and gearbox and removed the clutch to swap out the crank shaft rope seals but is stuck. There is what appears to be a final 'piece' to remove in front of the seal housing that wont come off of the shaft - any ideas how to tackle this?

The bolts you can see he screwed in

Any assistance greatly appreciated

Ben

Thanks Bob! I didnt expect such a thorough response. I believe its the same engine as in the section/component drawing but I'm not with the tractor at present to check its a Perkins 3 cyl

Is the part 33 in the component drawing the 'transmission housing adaptor plate' do you think?

regards
Ben

Not always, but in many cases new users have to have 5 or more posts on record before the site lets them post pictures, due to site spam filters. Another option is to go down to the Site Comments Forum and ask YT Support for permission to post prior to that. You can try going down to the Test Forum and making several posts there, trying to attach pictures to each post. That may work after you make several, then post again here with your question. It may not work immediately after you get past the 5 posts, if not, you might try logging out and back in at that point. There is a size limit as well, I think it is 7.5mb total per post, some phone pictures are too large and have to be reduced. Keep trying it will work soon.

Thank you again Bob. I fear your much appreciated and valued efforts are lost. I cannot thank you enough Bob for taking time to try and help

I have been advised that the engine is believed to be a Standard Motor Company 4 cylinder FE35, from '57!

Does that mean anything to anyone? Help!
