Log splitter Mf35

Hi could anyone advise the best place to put the return pipe on the 35 so I can run a log splitter. Is there any advantage to putting a diverter valve on?

There is a port on the left side of the hyd cover under the seat. The
return can be fed in here. My choice is always to fit the return line at
the oil filler cap next to the gear lever. This allows a larger return line,
1/2” with a smaller 3/8” supply line. This prevents any possibility of
back pressure in the return line. It is essential to use a divertor valve.
Every time the splitter reaches the end of it’s stroke or the supply is
effectively blocked briefly when using the control valve. The brief
interruption in the flow will cause the three-linkage to rise suddenly
because you are trying to mix the internal and external supplies. The
DVLA will keep the two circuits seperate.

The pump in a MF35 will be slow and the piston will be very sluggish in operation . A better way is to use the pto to power an independent hydraulic pump suited to the piston you have . Not hard to fabricate and much nicer to use .

Had the same question, thanks for the tip!

I would like to use a log splitter on my FE35. Are you able to recommend a specific diverter valve and explain how it is piped in please? Simon, Holmrook, Cumbria.
