Good evening!

I have a 1963 MF50 diesel and the starter needs to be rebuilt. I pulled it apart and cleaned out a bunch of crud built up over the years. The bushings are worn pretty bad. The brushes look good believe it or not. I cleaned everything and polished the armature and the tractor starts much better. Knowing the bushings are worn , I would like to buy bushings for it which would give me some piece of mind! I have the 3 cylinder diesel model and I'm having trouble locating a kit for the diesel starters. Anybody got any ideas?

Thanks for all the responses and help! After looking closely at the starter, I have decided for $150 to just buy a remanufactured starter and call it a day.

The starter should be a DELCO-REMY #1107-512. Any industrial starter/alternator rebuilders that are local to you should have parts for it.

The MF part numbers for the bushings.

1021907M1 bushing drive end.

1022450M1 bushing cover end.

If your starter still has the manufacturer's tag on it (like Delco Remy 1107870) on it use Delco Remy 1107870 to search for parts. You may have better luck that way than searching by tractor model. I found a couple kits right away on eBay with that number.

If you can get them out and take them to a starter repair shop, they should be able to match them up. Or if you have a part number for the starter, google it and see if any parts pop up.
