175 power steering cylinder rebuild

I just bought a 1972 MF 175. I am rebuilding the power
steering cylinder. The large cylinder—no issue, but the control
valve appears to be slightly different in design than the shop
manual shows. There is no snap ring in the linkage end and
there is a different oil seal as well. Did they redesign the
control valve before 1972? Any information would be
appreciated. Plus, what is the best way to pull the friction fit
“screws” for the valve cap?

On my 175 you go thru one of the hoses with a punch and unscrew rod. I think I pried cap to pop pins out on cover. I think this is correct

Thanks! I got it apart as you said with a punch but there was not a snap ring as shown to pull the valve out the front. But it came out the back end ok. I was afraid that I would cut an o-ring pushing it back in but it went past the ports and it working fine. I did find out that there were two manufacturers of the steering cylinder but they are ease to differentiate.
