Injector pump timing on 1973 Massey Ferguson 175

Need info on timing injector pump for Massey 175. Got tractor with pump off; it is I think CAV pump. Got pump and injectors rebuilt. I know pump will only go on one way and only marks I see through pee hole is TDC and 23 on flywheel. Inside pump looking through inspection window is letter C.
Any info will be gladly received.
Thank you
Mike

(quoted from post at 18:19:16 08/12/20) Forget the inside mark, the snap ring may not be set correctly anyway. Just use the pump flange ear/timing gear case mark and align them...

Thank you for reply; have another question can you tell me why exhaust is so strong. Blue smoke but oil level remains normal.
That's why I thought injector pump timing maybe off.
Thank you again,
Mike

Try advancing the timing a bit, push the pump top TOWARD the engine after loosening the stud nuts. Put the PUMP mark slightly above where it is now next to gear case
mark. Try 1/16 inch, then 1/8 inch and see what engine likes best.

Thank you again for info; I will try that tomorrow. Also can you tell me looking through the pee hole on left side of flywheels; should I use the 23 or be set on TDC? Again not sure snap ring correct just wondering.

The CAV DPA Perkins pumps are timed beginning of injection, so 23 degrees is correct. That's IF the snap ring inside the pump was set after pump was calibrated. Using
the flange ear mark works better..
