Hi:

I am going to look at a Massey Ferguson 750 Combine and then a 850 combine both with grey cab. Looking for tips on what to check. Good/Bad, weak points.

Thanks

the 750 is the prior model and is shorter. basically the same unit. i have the last year biult 850 . just says massey in big letters not
massey ferguson. the main drive belt is one of the weak points. other than that good combine and check the normal wearing items like rub bars
sives, chains, and such. mine is 1987 i think. dont really have any complaints on it. i dont like is for canola though. you need to add
screens on the straw walkers for a clean job. barley wheat is good.

Hi rustred:

Thanks for your thoughts.

The 750 would then be a smaller capacity machine? And, either machine should handle my 300 acres with no problems.

Thanks

should be no problem if a person has good weather. i had a 750 first and did 3 quarters. it was 1979 silver cab also.

We had a 750 for a while it was a good combine except for the oil cooler radiator was too close to the engine radiator that it
caused overheating. the solution was tomove the oil cooler to the outside like a 850's. they had a fan that ran off the engine to
keep it cool,it blew all heat out of engine compartment.

I live in Iowa with normal weather. The problem was a bad design with engine radiator getting its air from a hot oil cooler inches
away, The 850 would be my bet in a heart beat.

Hi:

In talking with neighbours, they say the combines would be to big for me as I only have a 16 foot windrower/swather. Says the combine will not thrash the grain clean. Are they just grumbling or is their merit to their comments.

Thanks
