I am starting to assemble a Continental H-277 gas out of my 444 that was stuck. While trying to line up the cam shaft and crank marks something doesn't seem right. One of the two marks on the cam gear are really hard to see. But I think I can make out both marks. Any way, with the marks lined up,the cam shaft looks 180 deg. out. It looks like the cam shaft is on the exhaust stroke not the compression. If that makes sense. It's not a big deal if I know the camshaft is properly timed. I can put the distributer in on the compression stroke. Any engine I have ever worked on the the cam and crank marks line up they are TDC compression stroke. Has any one with experience with continental engines seen this before?
