Hello, you should have around 3/8” of free travel when all is adjusted
correctly. A common problem that happens is that part of normally the
rear face lining of the main plate will break away and fall down
behind what still remains attached. So if you were to look at the main
clutch plate from the side you would see the front lining, the metal
hub plate and two thicknesses of lining at the rear side. If the pedal is
tight to press you should check the coil springs to see if they are coil-
bound. When good, there should be about 1/16” between the coils. If
the above has happened this gap will be a lot less for roughly half of
the springs. There is also likely to be a variation in the height of the
release lever screw heads. Longer posts are welcomed as the more
information you can give makes it easier for us to try and pinpoint the
problem.
