one wire alternator

MF 35 with Perkins diesel.

Anyone have an diagram that an electrical idiot can follow? None of the wiring existed when I picked up this project. Engine has been rebuilt and now trying to sort out the wiring. I will be using a one-wire alternator. However I am 3 levels below novice when it come to electrical. Thanks in advance.

I tried searching old topics on this and one thread that wouldve been helpful had a message that the image was no longer available.
Which is of course exactly what I need

Since you don't have any responses, I'll offer some info that might help you, and others may pitch in different info. Try looking at the link below. It is a link to a lot of info from Big Dean, which includes wiring diagrams for converting from generator to alternator, which may meet your needs, other than the voltmeter use. There is a drawing for converting an MF35 diesel from generator to alternator. You will only have a 10 gauge wire from the alternator output post to the starter solenoid battery post if you use a true one wire alternator (and eliminate the ammeter). The other two smaller wires shown to the alternator will be eliminated with a true one wire alternator.

A voltmeter just needs positive power on one terminal and negative on the other terminal. Positive, on a negative ground system, needs to be switched (by the key switch or oil pressure switch) to shut the voltmeter off. Where a ammeter is shown those wires can all connected together (or be straight wires, to the same end connection points) to eliminate the ammeter.

I changed BigDean's wiring diagram a little bit to show a volt gauge instead of a amp gauge, and a one wire alternator.
