Massey Ferguson 253 4wd power steering

We have a Massey Ferguson 253, 4wd, with power steering. The other day the power steering cylinder on the front axle loosened up from it's mounting along the axle while bush hogging and broke the piston in half on the right side. I'm trying to learn if this is a problem that others might have experienced. I'm looking for a complete cylinder assembly, new allen head mounting bolts and anything else that I may need. I'm not sure if I need a pickle fork to separate the joints or not. Any information regarding part numbers, resources, and procedures would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You can find your parts book at: https://apb.agcocorp.com/ . Enter 253 as the model on the search page and check the Massey Ferguson box to narrow the list. I believe you want the book shown as: MF 253 / 263 TRACTORS ( GB ) - 819774. That will let you find part numbers for your search and provide a base to talk with parts people from. There is also a link on the homepage for the AGCO parts books that you can click to go to AGCO publications where you can find and purchase manuals for your tractor.

You had trouble with this cylinder previously; and had a line on one didn't you? You may need that one now. I expect you will need to search dealers to see if they can order a rod/piston. Likely won't be an inexpensive repair. Hopefully someone has a salvage yard they can recommend. Hope your luck runs better than mine on such things.
