TO-30 spark plug "extension", what is it for?

Hi,
New to the forum. Working on a 1952 TO-30.

It has an "extension" on number 1 spark plug. Never seen anything like this before on anything. Anyone know what it's for? The spark plug is the same as the other 3 cylinders. I took it out of the extension and it seemed to fit the head just fine. I don't think the threads on the extension are different, but could be wrong. Didn't torque it down.

I would guess it is an anti fouler. They were for engines that burned oil to keep the plug from fouling out as often. Google it and some pics come up.

NAPA has these advertised:

Our spark plug non fouler is corrosion resistant for long-lasting durability. Plus, gaskets are included for a complete repair.

Yup, that's it. thanks.

monte welcome to YT! FYI by design the anti fouling spacer will raise the operating temperature of that spark
plug. If you run it long under a fair load the base of that plug may discolor or rust much like an exhaust manifold.
Probably won’t hurt anything, but you will likely find the engine uses a fair bit of oil.
