MF 240 Oil Leak

My 240 has pretty bad oil leak. seems to be coming from top area of engine (Perkins Diesel) runs down left side of engine (side that power steering pump and starter is on). I can't tell where leak is coming from. Any ideas?

Hi, sides are normally taken when sitting in the seat. A common place for a leak to occur is from the fuel lift pump above the starter motor. Moving up, the rocker cover gasket is the next candidate. Leaks can occur from under the cylinder head on the right as there is not a lot of gasket in that vicinity due to the cam followers being close to the edge.

Also check where the tach cable connects to the rear of the head. When that seal goes the oil flows freely.

That should be 'block', not 'head'...grrr
