MF65 throttle/governor dialing in

Hi farm folks! I want to thank you for helping me through the breaking in half and clutch replacement on my 1959 Continental Gas MF65 earlier in the year. I'm
very glad to say the clutch, PTO, and new seals are working flawlessly and should be good to go for another couple of decades.

What is now a problem is the throttle/governor/carb linkage. With the tractor split in two, the throttle/governor linkage was exposed and bumped into regularly
as the tractor was worked on. When things got put back together, I now cannot rev the engine past 1200 RPM- not enough to climb any hills under load! The
friction plate in the throttle works well, and the governor and carb rev the engine by hand when disengaged from the throttle linkage. The throttle is simply
not pulling hard enough on the governor via the linkage.

The easy fix would be to reposition the throttle link position on the linkage bar as it can be moved fore and aft on the bar- but sadly that position is already
at max leverage. See the attached photos. A PDF I found online for throttle adjustment calls for removing the body sheet metal, draining the gas tank,
removing the gas tank, and messing with the linkage bar junction at the front of the engine while somehow magically feeding gas from a missing tank to the
engine to dial it in. That doesn't really seem possible. I thought about lengthening the secondary linkage bar from the governor to the carb, but it does
little more than open/close the carb from 100% to idle and doesn't look like I need to adjust it. Or am I wrong about that?

What else can I try to put more travel on the governor without having to tear everything apart and mess with the linkage springs? I'm sure this is a fairly
common experience.
