MF35 - Battery / Starting Issue

Hi all,
New to the forum and new to old tractors!
I?ve recently bought an MF35 which was working without any issues.
I left it sat for a few days and naturally the battery died down (it has
previously been say for a few months before I bought it so there
wasn?t much charge anyway).
To save waiting a few hours to charge, I went out and bought a new
battery (thought a new one would be a good move anyway).
Connected battery, turned ignition and it tried to start for 3-4 seconds
and then went dead. Now turning the key does nothing whatsoever.
Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum. Where are you located, this might affect answers of where to get help/parts?

Some other questions that usually come up to get out of the way.

1. Gas or diesel?
2. 12 volt correct?
3. Positive or negative ground?
4. Still Generator or converted to alternator?
5. Condition of cables and wiring harness of the tractor?
6. Have you cleaned the cable connections? Not just the battery terminals but attachment points on the other ends of the battery cables. If not clean them and loosen the tighten the starter mounting bolts.
7. Do you have a voltmeter to test with? Have you done electrical diagnosis with a voltmeter before?

Since you say you have nothing presently I would start by checking the battery with a voltmeter to get a base voltage I should see at other points. After confirming the tractor is in neutral, I would check for voltage each point of the starting circuit from the battery to the starter including the key (and any safety switches) the solenoid and starter.
 
Could be a new bad battery or poor connections. I would test the battery voltage and also test each and every connection
 
Good recommendations above. You can also search for "voltage drop testing". This testing will help identify poor connections and faulty wires.
