231S Injection pump leak

Hello,
first time posting here. My dad left a Massey Ferguson 231S with 618 hours on it.
It has developed a diesel fuel leak at the front of the injection pump. Fuel is leaking through a hole on the lower flange.

Can anyone advise of the cause of this and the repair involved?

Can't seem to upload a picture. If someone can help me figure that out I will attached a couple of pics showing the pump, the tag on the pump (Lucas) and where the leak is.

Talked to a local tractor shop here (not M-F dealer) and was told that I was possibly looking at a pump rebuild upwards of $2000

I'm not sure about that pump, maybe that is weep hole for the front pump seal so fuel doesn't go into the crankcase. Dieseltech here on the forum would know for sure, and he could probably fix the pump for much less $$$$

Looks like a Delphi pump, DP 200 IF the model number starts
with 89. Have seen the safety weep hole leak before. Shaft
seals need replaced, had one like that last fall I replaced the
seals on. Get a service book BEFORE pulling that pump, it's
NOT timed like the early DPA pumps are..

Ok thank you, this information really helps. Went back and talked to the local shop today with better information on what type of pump, etc.. We can get if fixed up for around $500.

Thanks for all the help.

(quoted from post at 09:22:15 06/22/19) If pump only need the drive seals, I can do that for much less but pump MUST be removed correctly.

Whats much less? I have one doing the same thing, tractor runs fine
