My MH 50 3pt lift has been working just fine. Yesterday it was fine, today I started the tractor up and the lift went all the way up and is stuck there. It just has a light trailer hitched to it. Just used it around the place for 4 hours yesterday. Now even with my 250 lbs on it, it will not move. Any ideas??

Hello Tom, I'm assuming that the
hydraulic system is the same as the
35/65. If this is the case you have
described axactly the symptoms of a
broken oscillator link. The oscillator
rocks the control valve back and forth
and stops it sticking. When this happens
the control valve will automaticalky go
to the pumping position. When you lower
the quadrant lever the linkage inside
compresses instead of the control valve
being moved. The original oscillators
were made of aluminium up to about 1964
and were prone to breakage. After that
they were made of steel. Problem solved.
Partly drain the transmission and remove
the rh side cover. If the pump arm and
linkage remain stationary when you move
the quadrant levers this is likely to be
your problem. The oscillator is situated
under the pump in the bottom of the
casing.

that happened with one of my TO-35's. luckily I was able to obtain a used pump and swapped out oscillators.

I own 1963 MF 35 X......

Neighbor owns a MH 50.......

FERGUSON SERVICE MANUAL indicates the HYDRAULIC pump and geometry were designed basically the same...

MH 50 Pump may not have an INLET SCREEN on the HYD Pump...

It may be just my preference......I would never start an adventure into the HYDs with out the service manual...

I had to replace HYD pump... HYDRAULIC system was frozen...pump was destroyed..

Hi, can I stick my nose in here. It is taken from the lhs sitting. The main drive shaft is in the forefround and the control valve lever will automatically lean forward.....to the left.

thanks. I have a MF 50 with slow hyd. I think this summer I will take the cover off and see what the filter looks like.

The tractor sat over night and when I came out today the lift was down and seems to work like always. No idea what was going on, never happened before. I replaced the lift cylinder and piston 10 years ago and rebuilt the pump because it had got water in it and froze. The water came from the shift boot that I replaced then. It now sits inside a barn when not in use. I think I will change the trans oil. Thanks all.
