Trying to figure out what I have

Hey everyone, I know I've got a MF 135 with a Perkins AD3.152 Diesel, but I'm wanting to know a little more about the tractor, like what model year. I need to order parts for it, and none of the books are helpful...

There's no serial number on it, but here are some of the things I know:
1. Has a German placard on the side of the transmission case showing MF133 as the TYP. FAHRGESTELL-HR: 1338SM272080
2. There are numbers next to the fuel pump, 144JA 22373
3. There was a 3 position switch on the lower left hand side of the instrument panel that didn't do anything. Traced the wires, went to the rear of the tractor, but they were cut off
4. Has a Du-Al 115 front end loader on it
5. Has an attachment-looking piece on the rear that looks like you could hook up a backhoe

Any information would be helpful for this.

Hello, it is not a 135 that you have but as your photo of the plate shows, you almost certainly have a 133. Similar to the 135, yes but a number of differences. To start the engine serial number 144UA signifies that the engine has a cubic capacity of 144 cubic inches. The 'UA' signifies that it was built by Perkins in the UK to Massey Ferguson specification. You have a Lucas starter motor fitted to it. This engine develops 37.5 HP against 45 for the AD3.152 engined 135. The country of origin is France. Tractors made in France but destined for Germany normally had the additional German wording. It's year of manufacture is likely to be 1975/76.
It is not a model destined for the UK market as it has the European indicator switch (lower left) and no panel lamp.
Are you in Europe or the US? If you need any further help please get in touch.

Thanks for the info, this is definitely helpful. I'm in the US.

One of the things I'm trying to do is to add a fuel sending unit and fuel gauge, hence why I posted a picture of the fuel tank. I saw that there were 2 types, a standard and an increased capacity tank. I think I have the standard tank, since most websites show tanks like what I posted. Locating a compatible sending unit to a gauge has proven to be rather tough.

Hi, looking at your photo of the tank it would appear to be the larger type. It's 10pm in the UK at the moment. I will check my computer in the morning and see if I can find any numbers.

Hello, I have some information which might help you. Firstly having now seen the photo of the fuel tank on my computer screen it doees look now like you have the smaller capacity tank. To try and check this you will need to measure the depth of the front grille. Lower capacity tank tractors measured 13" and later ones 14".
Agriline in Worcester, England is a major supplier of tractor parts. I buy quite a lot from them and they ship worldwide if you can't find what you want more locally. Their site is worth a look. On the basis that you have the smaller tank Agriline list the fuel sender for the 133, 135 and 140 as MF part number 897 403M91. Agriline number is 5843. This is supported by the same number in the MF 133/135/140 parts book up to serial number 957190.

The fuel gauge is a little more tricky. The MF parts book shows a possible gauge on the extreme right hand side. In your photo the steering wheel spoke is hiding the gauge so I can't be sure if this is the position of your gauge. If it is, the MF number is 908 432M1. The parts book does not specifically mention each gauge. The number for the 135 fuel gauge is 898 418M1. Agriline number is 5844. If you have a dynamo fitted to the tractor I cannot see why a 135 gauge would not work. I will cross-reference the number and add the result in a further reply. Hope this is of some help.

Thank you David, this information is extremely helpful.

As for measuring the depth of the front grille, from top to bottom, it is 14 inches. So it looks like I do have the standard tank. I also measured the depth of the tank where the sending unit would go, and it measures just shy of 5 inches.

As for the instrument panel, the ammeter is in the far upper right hand corner. When I do get a gauge, I plan on placing it on the lower left (where the silver pull knob is at the moment).

Again, thank you very much for helping. This information is invaluable.

By the way, my name is Mike.

So I purchased the fuel gauge and sending unit. Both work, but independent of each other. They just don't work together....

It appears that the fuel gauge has an ohm range of 0-240 (or so). Don't know for sure because I can't find squat about the ohm range. The gauge looks like this: <a href="https://www.ebay.com/itm/MF-35-135-Temperature-Oil-Fuel-Amps-Gauge-Reconditioning-Kit-Glass-Seal-Bezel-2/283585716932?hash=item420706a2c4:g:rFsAAOSwd0BVwpbI">Fuel Gauge</a>

The sending unit has an ohm range of 0-30. It says it specifically on the sending unit itself. This is the style I purchased: <a href="https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fuel-Sending-Unit-Massey-Ferguson-135-897403M91/132626270291?hash=item1ee1244853:g:DzYAAOSwN4FdzfAp">Fuel Sending Unit Purchasedlink text</a>

I'm just wondering if this is the one that I need: <a href="https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Fuel-Sending-Unit-1203-3411-For-Massey-Ferguson-135-200-Crawler-189160M91/184068722567?hash=item2adb59cf87:g:bUcAAOSwXqxd5qjC">One I think I need</a>

Thoughts? Will the sending unit work with the gauge I purchased? Will I need to get a different gauge that works with a 0-30 ohm sender? Where can I find one?
