Gold belly Ferguson with major problems!

Hi all,
My uncles first tractor is a FE35 gold tractor. It is driving him crazy because he was starting to mow a paddock and it died. Replaced the 4th coil and it fired right up and ran great. 5 minutes later it died, replaced the 7th set of points, ran great. 5 minutes later it died again, not to start. Has anyone had problems like this on this model? Any recommendations? He is now using his David Brown 850 which is going perfectly and is reliable.
Thanks!

Are you buying a coil with internal resister? If not this is burning your points up. You have to have internal or external resister coil. I always ask for the internal coil so there not extra connection to give trouble.

If it doesn't have an internal resister would that blow the coil as well as the points? What extra wiring is necessary to an external coil?

All Gold Belly FE35 tractors are 12 volt from the factory .

I would look elsewhere than the coil or points , sometimes it's easy to become fixated on the wrong thing .
Ignition switch intermittent failure would be one thing , as well as the isolator switch between high and low range .

Other than that have you investigated the fuel system ?
I think it was Tony from Mass who said '' 90% of fuel trouble is electrical and 90% of electrical bugs are fuel ''.

An afterthought , condensers fail and cause all sorts of trouble , even new ones out of the box aren't worth a POS .
No way to test them easily either other than using a known good one from another tractor .
