Mf 165 loss of hydraulics

Hey all! I have a mf 165 that I've seemed to have lost hydraulics on. Started it this am, and loader worked fine. It was slow because it was very cold. Parked it behind barn on slope and did some other stuff for an hour. Started it up, and loader was very slow. Tried to lift a bale, but it wouldn't lift. Figured I was low on fluid. Parked it by shop and added fluid. Now the loader wont move at all. Won't even try. The multi power still works though. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Hi, just an initial thought- does the tractor have an isolating valve fitted at the front of the hydraulic cover. If so, have you checked the settings for external supply? It's easy to knock some valves when getting on and off and move the setting to 'internal ' supply.

All valves are in their normal position for loader to work.

No progress. All the valves are set how they normally are. 3 pt and rear remotes dont work. FIL said he was sure his dad disconnected a bunch of stuff at some point. We only use it as a loader tractor.

Where are you located and what is "very cold"? If it had been working with no issues prior to this I wonder about it having some moisture in the system which formed small crystals and has plugged the suction screen/filter. Have you tried warming the transmission case up a good bit to see if it helps? A lot of starting for short runs then stopping without fully warming up enough to evaporate moisture from the oil can lead to issues. I would consider keeping it running at about 1000 rpm in very cold weather if I was going to use it again in about an hour. JMHO

Hello, an easy next step would be to disconnect the supply line to your loader control valve...assuming that you have one fitted. Point the hose into a clean container and start the engine briefly. If you have no flow then there is nothing coming from the pump. If the flow is weak it could be the filter partially blocked. If there is a strong flow there may be insufficient pressure behind it. My next step would be to drain the oil to the level of the bottom bolt on the rh side cover and remove the cover. When all is set to pump, the pump lever coming up from the pump should be leaning rearwards. Vertical or leaning forward and it will not be pumping. As a further thought, have you done anything to change the normal position of the 3-point linkage? If you have the system could be in 'neutral'.

I disconnected the hose going to the spool valve, and started the tractor. A very small trickle comes out, that's all. As for the 3pt, havent touched anything with that, as we never use it. I t rd IED moving it around, just in case, and nothing seemed to make a difference.

I have an update. I was disconnecting hydraulic lines to take the cover off. As I unhooked the lift arms, the rickshaft dropped and flushed a bunch off fluid out. I figured I'd try the tractor, and I have hydraulics now, but the fluid comes out in spurts. It will raise the loader, but very slowly and jerky. What's my next step? Thanks!
