I've recently purchased a '49 MH44. Tractor runs great but still needs some work. My question is regarding the hydraulic pump on this machine. Tractor has no 3 point hitch or loader. Someone has looped a hydraulic line from the pump, around the battery tray, and back to the tank. It doesn't appear the pump serves any purpose. Is it supposed to be connected anywhere in the trans or rear end?
Thank in advance.

There is no cultivator lift. This tractor doesn't have anything that I can see to be run off the pump. I've found pictures of other 44's that have no pump. I assume I can remove it and build a block off plate? I don't plan on doing anything with the tractor besides pulling.

You could remove the pump and cover the pump hole. There's also an oil fill cover used on early engines with no pump mount hole, but they can be tough to find since most had the hydraulic option.

Cultivator lift was originally under the
seat. Just remove the pump and put a cover
plate on the hole if you dont need it.

left front of the engine (H260 Continental) runs off of timing gears, If there is no pump now, there will be a plate held on by bolts over the hole that the pump goes in to.

Dickey, are you interested in getting rid of the hyd. pump? I'd need a picture of the drive side if you want to sell it.
