somewhere in time the left lift arm was put on incorrectly preventing me from using two stabilizer bars. the castle (?) nut and stud most likely have stripped threads.

any way to repair this without taking trumpet off ?

thanks.

I would either carefully cut the nut off with a grinder, or torch (or nut splitter if you can find one that will fit the nut). Then I would get the right thread chaser (not a thread cutter) and new nut.

problem is the 50 is at our place upstate where there is not a good place to do the work. so I have to look for the easy way out.

You say "the castle (?) nut and stud most likely have stripped threads." Is that just what you think or do you know the threads are stripped? Have you already tried removing the nut? I understand wanting to be prepared but it could be worth a try to remove it, if you haven t.

In addition to the suggestions already offered. If the nut won t back off you could use a grinder on two sides (180 apart) of the nut to thin it down to the threads, then split it to remove it. Less likely to further damage the stud if the nut is thinned. Chase the threads and run a new nut on. If you doubt it will stay, after it is on, you could tack weld it to the end of the stud, if you have access to a welder. Then change the stud later when convenient.
