101 Senior, 44-6

Were these ever officially tested? I find nothing in the University of Nebraska tests. The 101 Super, which I didn't even know existed, was tested but it had the
Chrysler motor. The Senior and 44-6 had the Continental. I doubt there would be much difference between the 2 but if there is such a test I would like to see it.

The 101 had a Chrysler 217 cube six if I recall, the 101 Super had a 230 cube six. The 101 Senior gas had the Continental F226, Kerosene used the F244. While they did run smoother than the 44 four cylinder 260, the four had more power than any of the sixes.

Here I am testing my 230 Chrysler powered 101 Massey put together with parts from 17 different tractors..For pulling I prefer the 230 Chrysler over the 226 Continental...I have 10 more Super,Senior, and Junior 101 Massey's..I have all the Supers 1938-1939-1940,and 1941...

Heres a 101 Senior puller thats going to be 427 Continental powered..

Somewhere I have some notes, that I can?t find right now. If my memory serves me correct, the F226 continental was rated 45 hp at 1800 rpm by MH. Cletrac also used the same engine in the AG6. They rated it 43 hp at 1530 rpm. I am not aware of any tractors tested at Nebraska with this engine.

A variant of it was built as the Willys super hurricane rate 120 hp at 3200 rpm. This engine did have some other bits as well, mainly a higher compression head.

With that many 101's around, do you happen to have a clutch shaft for a 101 Jr. laying around that does not have a home? Lack of match up between the two sprockets ate both the pilot bushing end and the clutch splines during previous ownership. The front mount had only one bolt holding it, and it was loose. I was surprised more of the radiator was not eaten. I welded the damage up and machined it down enough to work, but the shaft is probably on borrowed time.

According to the Massey Harris Data book by Keith Oltrogge, the 1938 101, 1939 and part of 1940 101 Supers used the Chrysler heavy duty industrial L head, six cylinder 201.3 cu in. engine. The 1940 to 1942 101 Supers used the larger 217.7 cu. in. Chrysler engine.
