MF 35 diesel deluxe

I just bought a gently cared for (lacking maintenance) MF 35 diesel deluxe this fall. Finally am going through maintenance after buying a manual. Twice I have started the tractor on cold days to find that I couldn't steer as far left as usual. As if something in the power steering is binding or possibly the steering arm or another part is catching. I will start it again and the problem will just go away. Wondering where to check for power steering fluid? The manual points vaguely at the bolts at the top of the housing next to the steering column. They recommend filling with type A automatic transmission fluid. Also says to fill to the top of the fill hole. Can anyone describe this process?
