Good afternoon folks! I ve got a Massey 65 with the continental G176 gas engine and I am trying to find out the proper governor adjustments. The tractor would over rev before so I lengthened up the rod between the carb and the governor arm. It s better now but seems sluggish on getting up to speed and has a "lull" spot in the throttle where it doesn t change. Throttle seems sensitive to get just the right speed out of it also. I don t have a manual and was looking for advice on how to properly adjust governor or what may be a problem. Things that I ve done....
- clean carb
- clean and freely moving pins and linkages
- new cork and welded the plate on the throttle shaft.
- check for proper governor arm movement while not connected to carb
- check for play in governor arm shaft.
Thanks in advance, Jamie
