202 amp gauge

So in the beginning when I bought the tractor it had a burnt amp gauge and bad voltage regulator. I replaced both and re wired everything. All works like it should I believe but not sure if I have amp gauge hooked up correctly. When idle it stays at 0 but when revved up it reads to negative side. I have wire from solenoid to neg post and wire from B post of voltage regulator to pos post.
Is this correct? Or should it be reversed?

Just reverse the wires on the back of the gauge. I have been replacing dead amp gauges with volt gauges. Volt gauges aren't a fire hazard like amp gauges are. Had a amp gauge in my 1968 Ford F100 truck, amp gauge shorted out, and it burnt everything up in the charging system, I replaced the whole charging system, and used a volt gauge instead (if you notice all newer vehicles use a volt gauge).

The wire from the B post of the voltage regulator to the + side of Ammeter is correct.

The wire from the - side of the ammeter goes to the + post of the battery.

That's how I have it, so was does it read neg numbers?

Sorry - I misread the diagram.

The wire from the B post of the the voltage regulator goes to the + terminal of the ammeter.

The wire from the - terminal of the ammeter goes to the starter solenoid terminal that is used for the positive battery connection (same terminal).

I can send you a diagram if you need one.

Same thing as original post, that's how I have it. Why neg amp readings?

I would guess that something is reversed. Here is a copy of the wiring diagram.

Yea I have that diagram along with another one more simplified out of a manual. But basically this is how I have mine wired up except for no wiring for lights yet.

(quoted from post at 15:08:05 11/12/19) I've seen a couple amp meters where the + and - marks were reversed.

Looking at the face off the gauge the + is on the right and - on left.
What should the amp gauge read during operation?
