MF 180, early model question

I am working on a deal with a guy to trade a PTO generator that I have on his MF 180 tractor, I believe it to be a 1966 model, which is the first full production year.

Do you have any concerns about this vintage 180, being very early model? Anything to look for? I think I have a good idea of value, looking at ones advertised, but what do you guys think is fair?

Pretty good looking tractor. I have an early one similar to that my serial is in the 1700s. The only concern I would have is the early Saginaw steering hydromotor. They changed over somewhere in the 2000s serial range (I think) would have to check the parts book to be sure. It was about $500 to convert it over with parts from the junk yard all in all not too bad I did think. As far as trading a PTO generator for a 180 I'd say that sounds like a great trade. Around here in IL most PTO generators I see on CL bring $500 to $1500.

To be clear, we are not doing a straight up trade, but that is how the deal started, the tractor is worth more than the generator.

Thanks for info. Regarding the hydromotor was it failure prone?

From my reading they don't fail as in not
working, they just leak like crazy out
the top. Mine was leaking allot but still
steered the tractor fine.
