135 3cyl Perkins spark plugs

Looking at tune up kits on this site for 135 gas. It list three diff sizes of plugs why is this? Have a 69/70
acourding to SN # it talks about REACH as in 3/4 7/16 and so on. Why is this.

If I recall plug thread length depends on which head is used..

Per the MF shop manual for the Perkins AG3.152.
Engines Serial No. 152 UA 15061A and up have a different cylinder head which requires a new longer reach spark plug. The new plug installed in production engines is Champion UN-12Y and is a 14 mm, 3/4" reach type plug. THIS NEW PLUG MUST NOT BE INSTALLED IN ENGINE PRIOR TO SERIAL NO. 152 UA 15061A.

On the UN-12Y it has a 14 mm thread diameter with a 19 mm thread reach (19 mm is almost 3/4 of a inch long).

The earlier plug Champion UJ-8 it has a 14 mm thread diameter with a 9.5 mm thread reach (9.5 mm is almost 3/8 of an inch).

Even with the engine serial number I would recommend looking into the spark plug hole, or take a pick to feel to see how deep the threads are in the head (someone could have swapped cylinder head unless you know if its the original cylinder head).

The serial number you need to find is on side of the engine block just below where the head gasket is. The tractor serial number is a 1973 year model
