I appreciate all the advice on my previous question and I have narrowed my search to a Woods BB72X WEIGHTS 804lbs with 2"cutting and RC6 that weights 575lbs with 1" cutting.
Would either one work on my MF50 without adding frontend weights?
There is a $850 price difference between the two mowers.
I have a Woods 7' rotary mower on Case CK930 so I will only be using the MF for along fences and some pastures.
6' wide mower extends past the rear wheels 6" each side; so is it possible I could get a 5' mower?
The narrower mower would be nice along the fences but I was told I need to get a mower that extends past the tractor's rear tires; it that a true statement? Thank you again for all the assistance and patience. John

I have a Massey-Harris 50 with a 6' Howes brand rotary cutter, have no idea what it weighs. Only has the front bumper for weight and the front end has never left the ground while mowing. Have been using them since 1993.

I have a Woods 7' mower behind 135, and the front end gets a little light if I lift it really high (but I don't usually have to do that), as long aa I keep the tail wheel on the ground it's fine. I also had the same 7' Woods mower behind my brothers 150 (pretty much a MF 50) and it has no problems with the front end being light when it's fully lifted. While some may say a '7 mower is too wide all I can say is if you get into thick, heavy cutting you can always move over and use 5' of the mower, or you can just drop down a gear, and go slower. If you don't have thick, heavy stuff to cut you can't make a 5' mower cut 7'. My Woods 7' mower behind my 135 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnV0W9dcrtA

just fill the front tire with water.....for summer, write on calendar to drain in 1st Oct.(here) add just a bit of windshield washer to what is left........good to go.....will help......you should be fine with or without.....just plan your battles........

If you don't want to add front weights($$) you can use an old truck rim and tire and chain it on. Dad did that on his 50 Massey years ago and it worked great considering the steep hills he mowed. Since you have a bigger tractor I would say you can get by with the cheaper one that also has less weight. BTW he still has two wheel weights hanging off the front bumper of his 255 for hoggin'. Your mileage may vary;-)

If you have hills I would definately add weight to front for the 800 lb mower. I've had 5, 6 and 7 ft rotary mowers for 135, 165 and 265 MFs. With my hills I've always had liquid front tires and with the 165 with my 800 or so pound mower also use suitcase weights too. You can use a 5 ft mower also no problem. I'd at least liquid fill front tires, that will add about 100 pounds, help stability, turning and safety IMHO.
