Slowing 90 loader

I have a 65 with a 90 loader, the combination works pretty good except the boom has single acting cylinders and will drop very quickly. I tried slowing it down by adding plate with smaller hole between the valve and the return, it did not help much. Am I on the right track and a smaller hole will help or is there something else I should be doing? The pics are the plate I made, where the valve mounts and everything assembled.
Thanks
John

Put a smaller diameter hose on the return line for the cylinder and that will help some

The issue I have is there is no hose, the valve returns through the mounting plate for the valve. The reservoir is in the loader frame.
Thanks

Supply an return line are the same on a single acting cylinder so install a small hose in that and you will slow it going down but not slow it much if any going up since going up has high pressure and down has only the weight of the loader to push the fluid back out

I'm not real experienced with hydraulics, I was thinking when the boom drops the fluid comes back through the valve and dumps into the reservoir and this is where I could slow it down? Will that not work?
Thanks

On a single acting cylinder the fluid goers in and then back out the same hose so to slow ot down you simply use a smaller hose to the cylinders

Thanks for the replies, I do need new hoses anyway, will have to do some looking. Considering adding a restrictor for the time being, should only need one on the T, anything to consider doing that?
Thanks
John

You would need to reduce the hole in the plate a good bit more to slow the lowering, then you might have trouble holding a seal between it and the valve due to back pressure. Just my thought.

A plain restricted fitting in a hose(s) slows flow in both directions.

There are adjustable flow controls that will restrict flow in one direction and allow free flow in the other direction. Using those could allow your lift to function as it does now and you could adjust the restriction to the flow to get the lowering speed you want. Surplus Center is one source.
