Having a hard time (bad neck) looking back at rakes and balers. I hope you can give me some ideas how and where you have mounted rear view mirrors on these old open station tractors to get a good rear view. Thanks for the photos.

Question: Do you think the fenders are strong enough to support mirrors? I am concerned that the vibration would fatigue the fender metal and crack it eventually. And the mirrors might dance, if only attached to the fender.

Hello, the fenders if in good condition would certainly be strong enough to support a mirror but you'd probably end up with eye ache as well trying to watch what was going on behind you. If you specifically need a mirror to watch what is going on behind you rather than just a quick glance the answer should be fairly simple. Providing that you have no excessive height restrictions an arm could be attached to the right hand foot bar or in that vicinity to hold a convex mirror mounted around 2 to 3 feet above the hood. If necessary add a stay to the arm going down to one or two of the clutch housing bolts. The convex mirror would give you a wide view and the height should enable you to see fairly close-up to the tractor. The height would have to be set to a level that you would not have to lift your head too much.
