MF-65 turns over but will not start

I just rewired my 1958 MF-65 with a purchased wiring harness. I have the tractor turing over now but will not start. This tractor has always started right up in the past. Unfortunitely the harness instructions came with basic instructions. e.g. "wire #10 ignition switch to starter button" but doesn't say which side of starter button.

Any advice???

Gas or diesel?? If gas try a hot wire from the ignition side of the battery to the ignition side of the coil. If it starts then you know you have the ignition wire not hooked up as it should be

It is gas, maybe switch the wires runing from the ignition coil to the distrubritor and the starter switch?

If you have a test light or VOM I would use one of those to see where power is when you turn on the ignition and also see which wire has power when the ignition switch is in the start position. So are you also saying it does not spin over or it just does not start?

It turns over great, just does not start. Some quesionable situations I ran into are the Ignition Coil with the "+ and -" terminals what goes where? And the push starter switch has two contact points but 3 wires lead to it; what two wires are together and which one is by itself?

as for the coil what ever your ground is that side of the coil goes to the distributor. So if - ground the - side of the coil goes to the distributor. As for the start switch I cannot be sure since I do not have a MF65. But taking an educated guess I would say one of those wires if a ballast resister by pass for hotter spark when starting it
