Marvel Schebler TSX Venturi Direction

TSX 683 - just rebuilt by shop, but it was left in rain before it was installed and rust covered (I know, arggh). So I opened it up to carb clean it.

I originally tore down and I recall the venturi had a ring that kept it attached to main gasket. But when I opened this time the venturi was sitting loose and upside down (I think), ring away from gasket. And I cannot find information on line, including the Ferguson site that has a MS TSX Carb procedure. None of the videos I've seen show it either. Help appreciated.

Thanks for the pictures.

So I fixed the upside down venturi, cleaned fuel bowl/line and air cleaner, and it started up ok but was idling high with minimal throttle control and no power.

I cleaned up governor linkage, and had to wind the throttle yoke out a couple turns to get idle down. Then I adjusted throttle needle in (minor stutter), then out (recovered ~ 1 turn out) and didn t change further, so left at 1 turn.

Power needle adjusted out turn after run on hill (no equipment to test).

Still a minor stutter, so checked ignition system wires, plugs, gaps, and found rotor was worn (>0.05 gap in cap) so replaced.

It appears to run ok now, stalls periodically, but cut a field yesterday.
