MF 698 with a bad 318 engine

I have a Massey 698 with a bad engine---real bad. It is the 318. Thinking on different avenues of fixing it and have even
looked into a used engine. There ain't a whole lot of 318's to be found, a lot of the 354 six cylinders though.

My question is will a 354 bolt up the same as a 318 in a MF 698?
Not a lot of information on these model of tractors and I can't find a definitive answer.

The Perkins 4-236, and 4-248 should bolt in, MF made a 698T with a turbocharged version of 4-236 engine. You won't have quite the power of the 4-318 (unless you get a turbo 4-236), but the 236, and 248 doesn't eat head gaskets like the 318's are famous for.

They also made a 399/699 that had the 354 but with the lighter rear end like the 698 so that might be possible. Would be an interesting swap. If you search 236/248 and 318 swap you will find that the bolt patterns are different, something about extra bolts on 318. Where is the 698 located?

I think the bell housing is the same on 318-354 but I'm not so sure. Don't wanna put in one of the smaller block Perkins in
because they are stretched to the limit to get horsepower. Displacement (cubic inches) makes power and lasts.

Have not been able to figure out if a 354 will bolt in and not have to jack around with a lot of refit.
Tractor is here in Indian Territory.

Anything is possible, but when doing a engine swap it's all the small parts you may also need to change will eat a lot of $$. If you get the engine with a complete tractor that has a bad transmission/rear end that will make things a lot easier as far as any other things you may need for the swap.
