MF 35 PTO clutch

My 1962 perkins 35 does'nt get used much these days and it's a while since the pto was used.
It used to work ok, but when I tried to engage the pto this week it just grinds the gears.
I adjusted the pedal to 3/8" as stated in the manual for a two stage clutch.
I measured the three adjusting bolts at 1.6 so I adjusted these to 0.9 as stated in the manual but no change.
I then adjusted them to 0.6 as stated here on the forum. Still no change.
The clutch has 12 yellow springs which I believe is an 11" version.
As I needed to finish the job I'd planned, I engaged the clutch before starting and could use the pto ok.
The bight points are now a lot closer, so I think I'll put it back to 0,9 next time I play with it.
The only thing I can think of is that a bit of the clutch plate or something has come loose and is dragging the clutch.

Any tips or advice welcome. I'm not planning on splitting the tractor. - Mike

Hello Mike, 090 is the preferred setting. Have an assistant operate the pedal whilst you watch the operation with a flashlight. All movements should be equal. If one does not appear to move then a broken lining is possible. If all are moving ok then it looks like the plate is stuck to the pressure plate. Jam the pedal right down and you may be able to insert a fine flat screwdriver in to break the adhesion. Alternatively try turning the pto shaft with the pedal down using reasonable force.
