Massey Ferguson/Harris 50... tell me all about it..

I have a chance to buy one.. don t know a lot about this particular model, I normally deal in ferguson To20 and 30 s. The seller claims that this model was made for one year and right during the changeover of the company. Anyhow, all the sheet metal is off of it and was a 4h project to be painted. It never got done and is still apart. The seller said it ran fine. So.. question is this, about what monatary value would someone put on this and what are the perks of this tractor.. I can t find much on it from the web. It s gas btw. Thanks!

the tractor currently does not run.. seller said sheet metal is straight.. supposed to have a new clutch in it, tires are good.

SORRY, the claim is that it is a 55 not a 50... that s why I m perplexed..

A model 555 would be a Massey-Harris-Ferguson. It was the largest Massey tractor at that time, 1956 & 1957 and maybe a few 58's.

There is a big difference between a Massey Harris 50 and a Massey Harris 55 or 555. The 50 is the same as a Massey Ferguson 50 except the hood and paint color on the castings. It is a 34 PTO horsepower utility tractor with a Continental Z134 engine, 3 x 2 transmission, 2 stage clutch and 3 point hitch. The 55 and 555 were much larger wheatland type tractors with a Continental J372 (gas) or JD372 (diesel) engine and a 5 speed transmission. Hope this will help you figure out which model it is.

Both 55 and 555 gas and diesel are 382 Continental, and transmission is four speed. The 44 and 444 had the five speed.

it s either a 50 or a 55 , he said it has a low and hi transmission, I m guessing live pto. Those two things alone make it a little better than my TO30. However my TO30 runs like a champ and pulls like a beast. My TO30 has a step up transmission making it fairly fast on the highway.. (25mph) The fella wants 1200 for the 50/55 whatever it is... I m thinking about going to look at it.

If it?s the one on the Sandusky craigslist it?s a 50. I thought the
ad said open to all offers, that being said I don?t know if I?d
give $1200 just because they can?t prove it runs right now and
also the pics show that the radiator hoses aren?t plugged to
keep mice from filling passages with junk. I?m thinking it?s the
same engine as your 30 and yes live pto via 2 stage clutch.
