Massey 35 Transmission Input Shaft Bearing Retainer Removal

Ladies and Gents,

I am having some trouble getting my transmissions bearing retainer off the front. I would like to pull it off to replace seals before I put my rebuilt engine in. I was able to get the bearing retainer and what seems like the input bearing out of the housing but the retainer will not slide off the shafts. What am I doing wrong? Also my transmission had about 2 gallons of water in it :( but it seemed to work fine when I drove it briefly when I bought it. Hopefully can just be flushed out.

Six speed transmission? If so a LOT more work is needed.
The LOWER shaft, then bearing need removed so the lower
PTO driven gear can drop down, then input retainer can be
removed. Brake cross shaft must be removed also. Best get a
service manual.

I also just bought a 35 that had about 2 gallons of water in the rear end. I let it drain for 2 days. I poured some diesel through it yesterday. Didn't see any more just come out.

Unfortunately I just saw that the 6 speed setup with dual clutch requires another split at the back of the transmission. I was hoping there was a work around that isn't in the manual but no dice. I'm going to reinstall the input retainer and the lower bearing with sealant and roll the dice on the shaft seals leaking. If it leaks after engine is back on I'll do the big transmission removal split then.
